Free LUTs

Free LUTs for
TikTok.

TikTok is watched on small, bright phone screens at arm’s length — which means subtle grades disappear. The looks that work are bolder: stronger contrast, decisive color, a grade you can read in the first half-second of the hook.

Guide

Which looks perform on TikTok.

  1. Go bolder than feels natural
What looks slightly overdone on a calibrated monitor reads as “graded” on a phone. Run LUT strength at 80–100% for TikTok where you might use 60% for YouTube.
  2. Punch the hook
The first frame is the thumbnail and the hook. YT_Moody_Dark or VEL_Classic_Teal_Orange give an immediate visual identity that separates your video from raw-footage content.
  3. Beware crushed shadows
TikTok’s compression is the harshest of the major platforms. If you use the moody look, lift blacks slightly before export — pure black areas become blocky after upload.
  4. Grade in CapCut directly
You don’t need a desktop editor — import any .cube file from this pack into CapCut mobile via Adjust → LUT and grade the whole edit on your phone.

Export settings that survive TikTok

Give TikTok the best possible source: 1080×1920, H.264, high bitrate — its compressor is the most aggressive of the major platforms, and it can only throw away what you give it. A high-bitrate upload visibly out-grades the same edit exported small.

Match the frame rate you shot (usually 30 or 60fps), and resist HDR exports unless the footage was natively HDR on a recent phone — TikTok’s handling of mixed HDR uploads is inconsistent and tends toward blown highlights.

After applying a dark LUT like YT_Moody_Dark, check your blacks before export: if the waveform sits crushed at zero, lift slightly. TikTok’s encoder turns pure-black regions into blocky artifacts faster than anything else you can feed it.

FAQ

TikTok LUT questions.

What are the best free LUTs for TikTok?

From this free pack: VEL_Classic_Teal_Orange for cinematic high-contrast content, YT_Moody_Dark for night and moody hooks, and VEL_Vintage_Chrome for retro aesthetics. All 12 are free .cube files that import directly into CapCut on mobile and desktop.

How do I use these LUTs in the TikTok app?

TikTok itself doesn’t support custom LUT import — grade in CapCut (Adjust → LUT → import the .cube file) or any desktop editor, export, then upload the graded video to TikTok.

Why do my TikToks look washed out after upload?

TikTok re-encodes every upload at a low bitrate. Low-contrast grades lose definition in that process. Grade with more contrast than feels natural, keep blacks lifted rather than crushed, and export 1080p at a high bitrate before uploading.

Are these LUTs free for monetized TikTok content?

Yes — all 12 LUTs are free for commercial use, including Creator Rewards content, brand deals, and sponsored videos. No attribution required.
